Structures
Structures make unique and intricate subjects. Some stand mostly forgotten in fields or remote locations as silent as the past. Like shadows they are easy to overlook. Many of these structures convey feelings of stillness and silence in contrast to backgrounds of clouds, tumbling and seething swells, or mare’s tails hinting of wind. “They expose their bones” and most are slowly disappearing. There’s such a drastic difference in modern architecture. Straightforward materials such as truss joists, galvanized sheet metal, concrete and glass and yet many capture the essence of design. Structures are more than what it appears in the city or from the top of a mountain. They tell a story of the land and how they were or are used.
